The Best Art Museums?
Trip Advisor has named the best art museums. They missed a few. Just my opinion…
Well, Chicago does have a great museum. I live relatively close, in Michigan, so I’ve been there quite a bit, maybe I take it for granted. But I feel the Museum of Contemporary Art is just as interesting…
And I also live just as close to the Detroit Institute of Arts, also a great museum. The Diego mural is wonderful, as is Pieter Brugel’s “The Wedding Dance”, and the many great Impressionist pieces.

Where is the NYC’s Museum of Modern Art? It’s changed since the prior location, lost some of the quality in lieu of commercialism, though the NYC Guggenheim and the Whitney are far more commercial now. Although those two aren’t on the list anyway. But MOMA is still my favorite NYC museum, over the Metropolitan. And…I do lean toward the abstract, though the Old Masters amaze and teach me continually.
European museums…so many greats, I still think the Louvre is missing, as well as the Vatican. Just the architecture is classic. Venus de Milo is intimidating, in size and figure. The Vatican, well, really? Sistine Chapel, Rafael, the ceiling paintings (my favorite)…
But that’s just me, after all, I haven’t visited many of the world’s museums. And many have a gem or two that stand out.
